Our ultimate goal is βto ease the suffering and hardships of burn victims/survivors and their families.”
We have two main ways in which we strive to do that:
#1 – The High Five Clubin which donations we receive are then used to provide support services to burn victims and their families. These support services can include but are not limited to lodging, clothing, meals, travel expenses, mortgage/rent payments, gifts during the holidays, and friendship.
High Five Club members commit to donate $5 a week to the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation registered charity and receive a tax receipt.
#2 – Team Brave Events are focused on reintegration and held in partnership with Shriners Hospitals for Children on a bi-weekly basis where Boston Firefighters volunteer to support the victims and their families.
One of the most anticipated events held by Team Brave is the βChristmas in Julyβ event each year in which Santa and Mrs. Claus make an appearance in an effort to raise the spirits of victims and their families.
The Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation was created and recognized as a non-profit in July 2003. Its board is made of dedicated volunteers in unpaid positions who actually pay to be members of The High Five Club.
